Abstract

Silo is a storage unit for any goods such as cement, food grains/pulses and designed as per Industrial standards. In this paper, a real time filling capacity of silo assessment is proposed using sensor technology. The cloud storage assistance integrated with the system provides implementation of the proposed system in industrial arena. Here, paddy grain is taken into consideration in minimal scale and executed the entire prototype to monitor filling capacity monitoring in real-time using open-source resources. The grain weight is an ideal contributor to the holding capacity of the silo, thus affecting the walls of the silo in terms of stress, so this paper is addressing the issue of measurement of height of grain within the silo as an indirect way of predicting life of silo, and this will be useful for manufacturers
