Operational Aspects of Turning Process by Lathe Machine: A Review

Abstract


The primary goal of this research is to enhance the toughness and hardness of engineering materials by modifying the machining parameters in the turning process. To investigate the variations, the study utilizes the Taguchi technique to develop the class of manufactured goods and engineering designs. Achieving optimal surface finish is crucial in the machining operations of diverse materials. Therefore, it is very essential to regulate the necessary surface quality, which allows for the selection of the best cutting parameters. The performance parameters of turning operations were investigated using the signal-to-noise ratio. None of the criteria were determined to be important, according to the analysis's findings. The Taguchi approach demonstrated that, while turning EN24 steel, the ideal parameters were feed rate, depth of cut, and spindle speed.
