Abstract

The cyclic deformation characteristic of Al6061 metal–matrix composite (MMC) reinforced with alumina particles has been investigated at room temperatures. The distribution of force reaction poses starting cyclic hardening, upcoming case and cyclic softening, determined by the experiment’s parameters for room temperatures. Starting cyclic hardening is lower conspicuous with grow temperature and drop applied strain amplitude. Destruction is brought into the model by using a particle defeat criterion. It depends on the progress of the volume fraction of smashed particle as use of the maximum principal stress in the particle group. The destruction rule is identified by means of in situ fatigue tests implemented inside the scanning electronic microscope. The number of smashed particles is determined as a progress of the applied load and the number of cycles. The model identified the fatigue characteristic, the stiffness reduction, the volume fraction of smashed particle for different volume fractions and the effect of the fatigue properties of the matrix is also observed.
