Design and manufacturing process for plastic injection tools and moulds.

Abstract

Plastics engineering's importance in the automotive industry is growing by the day. Plastic parts replace aluminium and steel parts, resulting in lower total mass, lower production costs, and less pollution. Mold-making enterprises are facing a significant challenge in terms of design and production productivity, as well as project management control, as a result of these trends. It is impossible to boost design and production productivity without the usage of 3D software (CAD/CAM) technologies. These technologies have a tremendous impact on the design and manufacture of plastic injection moulds because they allow the trial-and-error process to be used to create exceedingly sophisticated parts that were previously unattainable. On the basis of the part model, simple procedures are utilised to construct core and cavity models, as well as NC programmes. As a result, the entire design and manufacturing process is built around a standard digital part model, which allows for uniform data processing and quick change management. The main goal of your project is not the final product that we are making, but the process and challenges that come along with making a product in the real world. We will achieve this by making certain changes in the injection mould and the raw material of the product, which in this case is reused plastic or locally known as 2nd grade plastic granules, and by increasing the production rate of the product the price of the product will decrease. To demonstrate the procedure of our project, we created a flow chart.
