Multi Criteria Optimization in Drilling Process of Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer Using Grey Based Taguchi Analysis

Abstract


The current work uses multi-response Taguchi GRA to analyse and optimise the drilling variables for a modified glass fibre reinforced polymer (GRRP). The L27 orthogonal array design was used to carry out the experiments. The filler material used in this study is hematite ore (Fe 2 O 3 ) particles of 75-150µm, E-Glass fiber of 300 GSM, and LapoxL-12 resin has been used to fabricate the modified GFRP composite laminates. This work improves drilling parameters such as drill material, feed, speed, and drill diameter based on multiple responses like delamination factor at entry and surface roughness. The results of the grey analysis are expressed as a GRG. Optimized parameter values have been found using the GRG, and the parameters that significantly contribute to the outcome have been extracted using analysis of variance (ANOVA). This unique strategy improves drilling response based on the experimental results.
