A review on Surface engineering and its methods.

Shubhaseesh Srivastava

Abstract

Surface engineering is the process of creating a surface/substrate composite system that achieves performance that neither the surface composition nor the substrate alone can achieve. This is achieved by modifying the substrate surface to improve beauty, provide environmental protection, or increase mechanical or physical performance.. Surface engineering plays a significant role in tribology and modifies or coats a component's surface to improve its properties. This article logically analyses a wide range of surface engineering procedures, starting with those that alter the surface without changing its composition and going on to procedures including compositional alteration before applying coatings. In each instance, the physical and chemical underpinnings of the process are explored, along with examples of how it can be applied practically, the characteristics of the resulting surface, and its tribological uses.

The sports equipment business has used surface engineering technology in a variety of ways, and as a result, athletic equipment has seen significant design and financial improvements
