Abstract

In this experimental study Dairy Waste Scum oil is used as biodiesel which is blended with Al2O3, ZnO and Graphene nanoparticles so as to increase the performance and decrease the emission characteristics of the diesel engine. To improve engine performance, reduce harmful emissions and conservation of petroleum reserve, some studies have focused on the addition of nanoparticles to biodiesel fuels. Such technique was thought to have positive impacts on the combustion characteristics of the biodiesel fuels. The reason for such effects was related to the fact that nanoparticles have a high surface to volume ratio and could act as a catalyst in the combustion zone as well as it confirmed to have a significant possibility of emissions reduction. Such Nano-additives also improve the radiative mass transfer properties, reduce ignition delay and improve the ignition temperature of the fuel in the combustion zone. Correspondingly, the previous experimental studies have been conducted with the addition of Nano-additives to biodiesel and diesel fuels to enhance the fuel properties and engine performance, as well as to decrease the engine emissions. Biodiesel has more oxygen content hence complete combustion of fuel takes place but bio diesel has high density and viscosity this makes biodiesel to have high specific fuel consumption and high emission therefore to overcome this limitation of varying physical properties high purity ethanol is added thus the biodiesel and existing diesel physical properties are matched.
