Abstract

This paper deals with the design and simulation of AC-DC converter which is controlled by TI based switch mode controller, i.e., UCC28070. Interleaved boost converter is used in this design to minimize the ripple currents at input and output side of the converter which reduces the EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) as well. Compared with single phase boost converter, two-phase (interleaved) boost converter efficiency is high. The most important feature of UCC28070 controller is Power Factor Correction which helps to get improved efficiency. Most power conversion applications such as SMPSs use the PFC stage as the first stage in AC-DC converter to improve the overall efficiency and minimize the losses. This converter operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM) to reduce harmonics on input side of the converter design. Design and verification of this circuit is done using SIMPLIS software.
