Abstract

Springs are heat-treated to develop strength, tougher and stiffness to justify resilience. Springs are manufactured from either ferrous or non-ferrous or ceramic or composite materials. Selective laser melting in helical spring has increased shear modulus in non-ferrous materials. Composite materials have encouraged in helical spring used in the suspension system of machines as well as curved leaf springs. Weight reductions of springs have appeared to be important in any sector. Stiffness of leaf spring has correlated well between computer-aided engineering (CAE) and test. New structural materials have lowered the weight of automobiles.
