Flow Visualization of Double Jet Impingement on Flat Surfaces

Abstract

The flow visualization of jet impingement on flat surfaces is typically used in the power generation of gas turbine blades. The flow visualization is used to verify the impinging technique and used as fundamental concepts for later comparison to the behavior of the air jets. The most significant properties of jet behavior are a unique Reynolds number effect and a radial change of the potential core length due to vortex entrainment. The experimental investigation of this work consists of flow visualization of double jet with the center distance between the jets 20 mm apart, impinging on flat plate. Jet interference will not exist before the impingement on the plate. The vortices are described at different H/D ratios.
