Application of Production Planning Techniques in Manufacturing of Engineering Components

Abstract


The design and production of an engineering component call for the optimal use of resources. Production is an organized activity of converting raw material into useful products. Advance planning of production activities helps a production engineer to anticipate any possible difficulties and take preventive measures to attain an optimal output. Apart from planning the production activities, tools and techniques should be applied extensively to monitor and control activates to ensure that the work is being carried out as per the plan. Production control techniques assist engineers to manufacture the products of right quality and quantity at the right time by adopting the best and economical methods. In this paper, raw material planning and production planning were carried out. Also, the overall equipment effectiveness was determined. The above study was carried out for retaining pin, hallow bolt and delivery valve holder assembly. The above data were collected and overall equipment effectiveness was calculated for the machines.
