Fatigue life Analysis of High Pressurized Gear Pump Component—A Review

Siddeshkumar C D, Gururaj Hattaraki, Chandrashekar A

Abstract

This review deals with fatigue life analysis of high pressurized gear pump component. The gear pump components failure occurs at the root of the driven gear and uneven wear at driven side of thrust plate. To avoid the failure, pump should pass the endurance test condition without fail, the test condition should not drop volumetric efficiency more than ten percentile, should pass high cycle fatigue life. The system is to sustain these conditions for its entire life. We can study the fatigue life of the gear components by plotting P-S-N curve or we need to conduct FE simulation using Ansys tool. By maintaining Stresses at compression and tension locations less than the material strength, avoiding friction between the mating parts, providing proper spacing and required lubrication thickness level the fatigue life of the component can be reduced.
