Design and Development of Spool to Improve Run Time Over 17-Fold Machine

S. Bala Murali Krishna, Shobha R, Hamritha S

Abstract

The study of this project main purpose is for repetitive use of spool as both pay-off spool and as a take-up spool. The spool is designed to handle fine wire of size less than 140 microns or even lesser than 50 microns of Tungsten wire. A spool, more in particular a spool for winding fine metallic wire like tungsten and molybdenum on under high tension. The spool is been designed to minimize the wire damage, to be suitable for reuse and to form part of a wire drawing machine. The spools are designed based on as improvisation of the already procured spools on take up head. The improvised spool is machined to a permissible to increase this annular space by reducing outer diameter of spool while keeping the internal diameter the same. The modified spools are analyzed using FEM analyzes software for desired functioning of spool.
