A Review on Tablet Coating Machine Upgraded Using Mechatronics in Indian Pharmaceutical Engineering

R Ganesh

Abstract

For manufacturing automated processes in the pharmaceutical sectors, maintaining a condition of conformity with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) continues to be difficult. The difficulty is in engaging with integrated control systems and an approach to monitoring that is simple, approachable, and reliable while still reducing the issue of manufacturing failures, which can result in significant financial costs for the business. In order to establish a robust control processing system, process monitoring, and reporting while caring about boosting process productivity and quality, this study offers a mechatronics automated system for modernizing a tablet coating machine in a pharmaceutical company. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) are two relatively new technologies that were employed in the mechatronic automated system to upgrade the tablets coating equipment (SCADA). The combination of the two technologies produced a really potent improved design that improves the control and monitoring process's efficiency, dependability, and robustness while cutting down on time, expense, and rework.
