Thermal and Structural Analysis of Modified Coffee Cup

A.D. Gnaneswara Rao

Abstract

In this study, generally the coffee loses its thermal energy which usually reduces the temperature. In my model the cup was modified to resist the thermal heat transfer from the cup to the surroundings. The cup was tested to certain amount of the load up-to its maximum deformation. By this study, I decided the maximum load that my model can take without any deformation. A finite element routine was first used to calculate the thermal displacements and stresses under the maximum temperatures of coffee in the Modified Coffee Cup which were then used for critical points evaluation. After further analysis like structural and thermal analysis I was able to find the find von Mises stress, heat flux, heat radiated to the surroundings, Thermal gradient, Displacement stress values. Metal industry and other industries need to demonstrate the durability of designs and planeffective maintenance schedules. This review reports a study carried out using 3-D modelling. The model was designed in Fusion 360.
