OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES IN THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY: EVIDENCE FROM BANGLADESH

Md Tanbin Haque

Abstract

In industries like manufacturing and construction, safety is the most crucial concern. Recently, the
growing quantity of accident cases reported involving the workplace environment indicates the
significance of safety issues in manufacturing sectors. This study was conducted to determine the
relationship between safety practices and injury management among workers in the manufacturing
industry. Five hundred fifty participants were involved in this research study. The outcome of this
study indicated that 90% of the participants were aware of the existence of major and minor hazards
related to their work and 69% of workers have good knowledge about different safety signs. In this
descriptive study, the comprehension check was once carried out with the useful resource of a
widespread questionnaire got from ISO 9186-1:2007. The findings of this study indicate that the
productivity of the organization was mostly affected by safety and health control programs. Based on
the findings of this study, the researcher recommended some significant improvements to the
managerial body of the factory to design an ergonomic workplace and practice a good manner in each
occupational safety and health hazard control program to increase productivity. This study found that
safety practice in Jibon Plastic Industry Limited was good.
