Design Improvement of Window Air Conditioner Assembly Using DFMA Technique

Sandeep S, Rajkumar E.

Abstract

In this paper, the window air conditioner assembly is analyzed using design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) tool. Dewhurst and Boothroyd method is used to perform the analysis. The CAD models are done using CREO PARAMETRIC 2.0. DFMA tool provides the effective cost analysis for the product before manufacturing begins. The outcome of the research shows the increase in design efficiency and decrease in product cost for the redesigned product of window air conditioner assembly.
