Design, Analysis and 3D Printing of the Rear Axle of a Single-Axle Heavy Truck

Shashank Sadanand Amin, Raj Kumar E

Abstract

A Rear axle of a single axle heavy truck has been designed using CATIA V5. A Finite Element analysis of the axle has been carried out on ANSYS Static Structural tool using Mechanical APDL to obtain the maximum deformation, the maximum stress and strain, the minimum factor of safety, the life cycle and the fatigue sensitivity of the axle. The product is then scaled down and sliced using Ultimaker Cura software and the tool path and G-Code is generated for FDM 3D printing. The part is then printed using an FDM 3D printer for further testing.
