Dynamic Analysis of a Multi-geared Rotor Shaft System

Venkata Sanyasi Seshendra Kumar Karri

Abstract

Gear systems are the toothed members in which the main aim is to transmit power or motion between two shafts by meshing without any slip. Motion and power transmitted between the shafts are kinematically equivalent to power or motion transmitted between frictional wheels. Vibration of gear system causes unwanted noise such as gear whirling. Noise and vibration signals from machine can contain vital information about the internal processes and provide valuable information regarding machine running conditions. In most of the gear system analyses, the deformation of teeth, gears and elasticity of the shaft is considered, but in case of high-speed rotating gear, pair effect of rotor dynamics is significant.
