Experimental Analysis on Roller Chain That Transfers Power From the Pedals to the Drive-Wheel in Automatic Drain Cleaner

Abstract

The chain used in our paper is a roller chain that transfers power from the pedals to the drive-wheel of the mechanism, thus propelling it. Most bicycle chains are made from plain carbon or alloy steel, but some are chrome-plated or stainless steel to prevent rust, or simply for aesthetics. A roller chain can be very efficient: one study reported efficiencies as high as 98.6%.
