Design, Construction and Performance Testing of a RC Glider

Wind power is readily available and free to use as well as being a non-polluting source of energy, wind energy can be utilized to generate electricity which can be used to provide power to components of the sailplane or to recharge the batteries of the glider. In this study, a lightweight radio-controlled glider with turbine and generator assembly was designed and constructed using 3D Printing technology. The glider was constructed using thermoplastics and composite materials which provide high strength together with light weight. This glider was tested under with and without battery recharging system to calculate increased efficiency and gliding time. Radio-controlled gliders are remote-controlled aircraft that can fly for an extended period by utilizing lift generated by slopes and thermals. These devices come in a range of shapes and sizes, with some made of wood, plastic, and various polymer foams. RC gliders come in a variety of weights, sizes, and lengths, depending on the manufacturer. Gliders, often known as sailplanes, require RC pilots to operate solely with natural factors, requiring them to sense the wind and respond using only their steering controls.References
