Abstract

Combination of high hardness, toughness, and strain hardening capacities with reasonable ductility have privileged Hadfield steel in sectors such as mining, transportation, military, agricultural and earthmoving equipment. Micro- porosities formation during casting by last solidifying liquids at inter-dendritic spaces in directional solidification have been insidious crack initiators during service exposure. Particulate penetration resistant wear part surfaces for secondary and tertiary crushers are found to add chromium and vanadium prone to age and precipitate formation to parent alloy. Pressure-rolling of components or burnishing in railway turnouts has improved applicability than rolling rail exploitation. Resistance to wear and tear as well as better response under temperature and corrosion have achieved by selection of alloy elements like titanium.
