Statistical Predictions of Annual Runoff Volume in Rolling Land Area in Port Harcourt Metropolis

F. Onuoha, C. Ukpaka

Abstract

The evaluation of annual runoff of Port Harcout Metropolis were assessed for 30%, 50% and 70% paved or impervious characteristics in rolling land of 5–10% slope. Predictive models were generated by fitting data into linear regression model. The monitoring and prediction of annual runoff due to annual rainfall developed is of great important to safe guard the metropolis from flood and other hazards associated with excessive runoff within the environment. The simulating model is reliable in predicting annual runoff if the annual rainfall is estimated. This help the government to make better plan on how to control and manage excess runoff generated due to rainfall and provide suitable water structures that will evacuee water to appropriate discharge point from area.
