Review on Noise Reduction for IC Engines and Diesel Engine

Anup Kumar Ranjan

Abstract

The internal combustion engine has mechanized the world. Since the early 1900s it has been our main source of mechanical power. The vast number of internal combustion engines in the world today has resulted in air pollution, noise pollution etc. The automotive industry has been a leader in the adsorption of noise control technologies. Noise has become irritated and headache for today’s’ urban society. An engine noise is mainly due to exhaust noise. Exhaust noise is one of the major contributors to noise from vehicles powered by internal combustion engine. The forceful prevention of an engine exhaust noise has been a subject of interest for many years. To reduce noise of an engine many way or methods like muffler, silencer, vibration control, enclosures, advanced new equipment, etc. can be used. This paper aimed to review the different noise sources and ways (methods) that are helpful to reduce noise of diesel engine
