Abstract

The main intent of this research is to study statistical process control by choosing Taguchi quality control technique to serve the purpose of controlling the Low pressure die casting process to decrease the number of defective aluminium wheels on at greater scale. To ensure the process capability certain critical factors are defined as metal temperature, injection time, spreader delay, spreader cooling, upper hub delay and upper hub cooling in which response factor is defined as a ratio of rejected number of wheels to the sample size. ANOVA analysis and Regression plot were obtained based on the results of the response factor that are further used to study the interaction effect. This study uncovers the factors that are actually affecting the Low-pressure die casting process and helps in the optimization of critical factors to improve quality.
