Static and CFD Analysis of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Blade (VAWTB)

Y. Raghu Ram, Ch. Mani Kumar

Abstract

Wind turbine is a device which will converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. When turbine rotates the force of air is acting on blade so that the blade will be stressed. In this regard stress and strain analysis is need for blade. This paper discussed Static structural and CFD analysis of vertical axis wind turbine blade. The design of VAWTB was done in SOLIDWORKS software. The static structural analysis was done in ANSYS.15. The CFD analysis was done in ANSYS.15. The results were tabulated. Two varied materials are used and based on the results suggest the best material for VAWTB.
