An Application of SLP Approach in a Plywood Manufacturing Company for the Selection of an Optimal Plant Layout

Abstract


The main objective of this research is to study the existing layout of “Gattani Ply” which is a Plywood, Block board and Flush Door manufacturing enterprise of Assam and propose an optimal layout design for the enterprise by applying Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) technique in order to increase the productivity of manufacturing. Data such as departmental area, activity relationship are collected by studying the existing layout. Henceforth two layouts were generated by applying SLP methodology. Eventually an optimal layout has been selected.
