Development of a CORELAP-Based Constructive Layout Algorithm

A great deal of emphasis has been put on computerized methods of layout development since the 1960s and 1970s, which led to the development of numerous techniques for developing layouts till present date. The layout development algorithms generally are of two types, constructive and improvement. Out of all the available constructive type layout techniques this study deals with CORELAP which stands for computerized relationship layout planning. The basic advantage of the algorithm is that it generates the layout by analyzing the relationships between all the departments. This study includes constructing an algorithm in excel using visual basic for application (VBA) which is based on the CORELAP technique and procedure.
