Finite Element Analysis of Rectangular Plate of S460J2 With Multiple Circular Holes

Navdeep Kumar, Jyoti Vimal, Abhishek Tiwari, Vedansh Chaturvedi

Abstract

Stress concentration is the main root cause of failure of multi-hole plates in bi-axial loaded conditions. Therefore it is essential to study such Stress Concentration Factors (SCF) to achieve the failure criteria. The method used for analysis is FE analysis. The main cause of increment in the stress is the geometrical irregularity, which may be caused by the various machining operations. Some kind of operations also requires such irregularity for their utility. There are two cases taken for analyzing the results, first when all sides are free and second when two sides are free with two sides are clamped

Keywords
